With my recent acquisition of the Sharp AQUOS® LC-42D64U LCD wide screen TV. http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelLanding/0,1058,1922,00.htmlI've had to re-think the shows I watch as its being broadcast and the shows I DVR for later since my lousy Comcast DVR box has a 60g storage limitation, therefore, it is not ideal to record shows in HD since I still have tons of other recordings waiting to be watched. Hence the phrase "HD Worthy". Here is my current list of HD shows/channels which I consider "HD Worthy" for the Fall of 2007 Prime time TV. Monday: CBS - How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory Tuesday: PBS - Nova Wednesday: FOX - Kitchen Nightmares Thursday: NBC - Office, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock Friday: Nothing. Usually go out, or at least watch a rental with family/friends. So, those are the channels and shows each week night which I consider "HD Worthy". I mean some of the shows its obvious, like the Thursday untouchable line-up by NBC, but pretty much everything else is up for grabs. Like CBS on Monday nights, talk about a solid hour of good shows. "How I Met Your Mother" is a show that I started watching on their 2nd season, and never looked back. Great writing, very relate-able to any age between 20-40, or just anyone who are in a serious relationship or marriage. Its like a reborn "Friends". The season premier was by far one of the best season premier of all the shows this season, Earl being a close 2nd. Another great CBS show this season is a new comer "Big Band Theory". This show is very cleverly written, with lots of "geeky" references to Online games, comics, science, and math. I find myself embarrassingly excited as I could understand 80% of the geeky dialogs while my wife on the other hand gave this blank look, except she laughs just because the dialog sounds so geeky. Finally, just when I thought I got rid of all desire to watch any more Reality TV, I found another one thats worth watching. "Kitchen Nightmares" is basically "A reality series following chef Gordon Ramsay's attempts to turn around troubled restaurants. Based on the popular British show." But what attracts me to it? I guess party of me always wanted to be a chef, and own a restaurant. So watching this show is like a big "what not to do" if I ever decide to actually get into the restaurant business. Also, I just love Chef Ramsay's antics, and his brutal honestly towards people. Thats pretty much what I will be watching this Fall, as I spend my quality time fishing online. Current Mood: cheerful

Read this: http://kanican.livejournal.com/12192.htmlGood read. I'd have to agree. Back in the days when I tanked for the LS, and now doing most events as BLM, there's a definite "Enmity Equalibirum", or I used to refer to "walk the hate line". Basically, a dead BLM is an useless BLM; so for any HNM fights that last 30min or longer, I did the same thing. Tweak the gear for reduce resist, but more importantly, tone the overall damage down. And in addition, its always good to keep an eye on what the Tanks are doing. Coming from tanking background, it helped understand what actions gives how much enmity. For example: - Fafnir, PLD use Sentinel + (Flash or Cure). If I was a blm, I know I can easily get a Thunder 4 + 3 or Water 4 in before fafnir will even look at me. - Fafnir, PLD use Rampart + (Flash or Cure). BLM = Water 4, or Thunder 3 OK. - PLD tanks damage. BLM = Sit my ass down and heal MP or get Stoneskin up. I have no business standing and nuking. IMO, doing longer fights is not a epeen contest. Screw max damage and die in first 5 minute. At least thats the BLM School I learn my shit from. Walk that "Hate Line".

With the majority of my play time dedicated to LS events and EXP/Meriting for the last 2 years, I've decided to slow it down a bit. Started doing some things I've not done for quite some time. 1. Fishing. Not really doing it for levels yet. Right now I'm about 7600/10000 from the LuShang, so I will keep working towards that while slowly gaining my skills that way. At the same time I've finally switched guilds back to finish after finish getting all the Gold smithing items I wanted. Now I'm looking forward to the Guild Fishing Boots. Fishing has actually been very relaxing. Just pop in my PS2 controller (vibrate when I catch something), and I am now ready for all the new great Fall season of TV shows. The whole "collecting" guild points things for Fishing isn't too bad either. It definitely gave me a reason to travel to different parts of the game to get the fish I need for that day. 2. Woodworking. Since I decided to to take fishing more seriously, and eventually would like to go for the coveted Ebisu Rod, I will most likely need to have the ability to repair my own LuShang rod when I break it. Therefore, I've decided to start (slowly level) this craft. 3. Ranger. Since I will be starting Woodworking.. and I'll be making lots and lots of arrows and bolts, I guess its only logical to make Ranger my next job to "kinda" off set the cost. So far solo to 13 with lolstonearrows. I have enough arrows left to get to at least 14. Then I will decide what to do after that. 4. Merits. Still need more merits. But instead of being an exp whore like I used to be, I'm limiting myself to 2 days a week at most for seeking. And usually no more than 3-5 merits per session. After I'm done Meriting RDM, I might reduce this time even more. 5. Assault. Recently helped got Primal, then Chindy their Captain status, I've been working hard to get it myself also. Right now, I'm 8 assault away from 50/50, so about 2 weeks. The good part is that I've already beat all the Boss fights at rank 10, and just recently beat the annoying Lebro's rank2, so it should be all down hill from there in terms of difficulty. Thats pretty much it. Aside from all that, I've made a little change in direction in my lotting. I've gave up the PLD lot which I kept pretty much since day 1 of joining the LS. With all the full time PLDs and part time we have now, there's really no reason to compete with them for gears. Loosing Homam Legs for the god knows how many times to new members who just join the LS is just too depressing. No complaints though.. thats just how the lotting system works. Current Mood: numb

Wow, its been a while since I posted here. Some people thought I was done with the game.
Life outside of FF kind of caught up to me the last few month. During this time, I got married, went to Mexico for vacation, and spend rest of the time help my parents move to their new house while at the same time helping my wife move into my place. So life has been pretty damn busy, but I still try to find time here and there to play.
I don't think I'm going to give up on this game just yet. I have a few goals in mind during this marriage adjustment such as:
- Level BST
- Capping Shield. (since I got PLD 75 long before the shield Un-Nerf, my shield skill is still a few levels away from capping)
- Capping parry. I got a plan in mind, but its going to take some time to get the gears I need to do it properly.
- Capping Great Axe. Not having time to use GA in exp since Rampage, its been difficult to keep this capped since the 50's. But GA seems to be a nice weapon of choice for skill chain, so I want to get this done as well.
- Merits. This is pretty much the only thing I've been working on since I finished WAR to 75. I got Axe to the point where I can eat meat for most the exp camps now, and currently have 30 sec knocked off both Berserk and Aggressor timer. I'm still debating if I want to go 5/5 for berserk/aggressor, or do 4/3/3 for DA/Berserk/Aggressor. I know 5/5 is great for HNM melee, but since I rarely get to go as WAR, 4/3/3 seems more fun for exp. However, since I've not made up my mind about WAR, I've been trying to recap my Magic skill area in the mean time. I'll have 8/8 for elemental and enfeebling by the time I'm ready to level RDM.
So I have plenty of things I want to still do to keep me busy in this game, I'm not quite done just yet. :)

After completing Sam, I decided to take some time to level a few different jobs before I get back to focusing on one job to 75. During that time, I got BST to a decent level (30) now so I can start dumping exp scrolls into it until I can get it to 35 before I start seriously level the job. Got RDM to 51. Not exactly sure why I stopped here.. especially the night I dinged, I didn't even bring all my staffs.. I just brought my Pluto. My lack of faith in Party quality was probably the main reason why I didn't bring the whole set. But after I muled all the mage equipment away, I started to regret not playing with it a bit more. I guess this job is just a bit too repetitive (-1) for me. I mean yeah.. I know all job in an exp situation is repetitive.. but RDM job wins the (-1) because not only you mesh the same buttons over and over again.. but you are also forced to focus on the log to make sure you recast certain debuffs/dispels/refresh/haste before you get bitched at. For me, I just didn't have the patience for it right now. Third job I did was WAR. Of course, I did my usual home work on the forums as well as talking to some veterans friends regarding the job. It seems straight forward enough.. load up on Accuracy and Attack, you are home free. I did do some of my own testing in exp parties, and tried a few different options in slots which I could manage to get decent equipments on and realize that Accuracy > all while leveling this job. I mean yeah.. one could argue all day about how STR helps blah blah blah.. But thats really for Merit-Parser-Parties when one dumps a few hundred K of exp into Axe skills and such. So now, I pretty much TP in acc gear, and WS in acc gear. I don't even bother macro'ing in anything for WS now. I feel like I'm a lazy player for doing this.. but I really see the best results myself when going all out accuracy. So wtf SE?? Why bother making all these other rings for Melee's if you know they are worthless to use until you are well merited?? It is so sad when a lower level WAR can out parse a higher level WAR just by having more Accuracy in exp. Any way, I've chosen WAR as my next job to 75. So far so good at 53, and going strong. I found War to be very versatile especially with the G. Axe. Shield Break + Armor Break + a sprinkle of acid bolts pretty much save the day in both of my Kuftal Tunnel Crab parties without a dispeler from 51-53. Just one more level, I'll be looking forward to leveling a little closer to my Home Point of Ah. Whitegate. Current Mood: amused

So I thought about getting this piece a long time ago when it first came out.. but with various reasons I decided against it. Well, yesterday we manage to claim fafnir again, and I was able to finally won myself a Hrotti. So I started thinking about the ribbon again. http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/7542But before I go and spend my 150 abc's in haste, I took some time to do a little more research on the forums. (mostly bg, alla, and ki) Seems like people with the Hrotti+Tatami has already reported a decent rate of intimidation, and majority of the bst who got this item has also reported that their intimidate rate has gone up a lot just by stacking with their own killer traits. On top of that, the "Increases Resistance to All Status Ailments" has been reported to be any where between 20-40% depending on if you have the proper bar spell stacked on by your whm's. ie. barpara+barblizzra+ribbon = less chance of paralyze from wing moves. Of course, it was kind of difficult to weave through all the garbage post by the nay sayers, but I came to realize that majority of the people saying Flawless isen't worth the coins are the people who never even tried it themselves or actually seen one in action. So with that said, I'm debating on my plans for the ABCs I have saved up for the last 6 month. I already have Boxer's, Brutal, and Loq. Earring. I was about to upgrade both Nin and Pld boots to +1 version, but now with getting the Hrotti, I'm very tempted by the Flawless ribbion once again. Current Mood: contemplative
